Automation - The Core Component of ADP. For the Last 10 Years, They Streamlined Design and Facility Management with One CAFM System.

Increased Productivity by an Estimated 87 Percent.

With 8 Million Square Feet to Manage, ADP Standardized on Drawbase.

Automatic Data Processing (ADP), one of the largest worldwide independent computing service firms, implemented Drawbase® FM Software Solutions to design and manage 400 locations worldwide - totaling 8 million square feet. For the last 10 years, ADP standardized on Drawbase. The Corporate Real Estate and Planning Department have been utilizing it for many facilities related tasks; space planning and management, conducting what-if analysis for renovations, designing, tracking furniture inventory and employees.

On The Move? Access Layouts From Your Laptopbldex004.jpg (13078 bytes)

Matt Kaminsky, Technical Draftsperson, states "Drawbase is on every laptop. While facilities personnel are on the road they have instant access to the latest floor plans and accurate facilities information. They make changes in transit." Drawbase provides the right people with instant access to facilities information quickly and easily. One of Kaminsky's responsibilities is managing all of the construction related data, such as block plans. He receives updates and renovations from in-house architects and designers and then makes the necessary space modifications.

Defining User Friendly

Since 1991, Kaminsky has worked at ADP and learned Drawbase Software quite fast. He states," It took less than two days to get up and running. This is mainly due to the extremely user friendly interface. The Getting Started Manual combined with one day of training was all I needed. I was amazed that I picked it up so fast. The manuals are laid out well, not too robust. I have seen other software systems and have a basic knowledge of both Microstation® and AutoCAD® and these packages are targeted for specific groups. In comparison, Drawbase is the most complete design and facility management software solution geared for everybody and anybody. It has everything right there."

Leveraging Automation

Drawbase is fully integrated with its own database, which includes customizable report forms. The space reports are used frequently. Kaminsky explains, "Once the space report is set, it is fairly easy to generate. Before CAFM, tracking department's square footage sometimes took months depending on the complexity. With CAFM, the entire process is automated. Space reports simplify the task immensely. Manually tracking two buildings' department's square footage took at least one day. Now it takes one hour - increasing productivity by 87 percent."

One System Makes it Easy

Robyn Edmondson, Administer, manages the day-to-day operations for the Corporate Real Estate department. She also assists the department with any Drawbase questions. Edmondson states, "Overall Drawbase is a user-friendly application. We have over 28 people in Corporate Real Estate and Facilities and have 13 Drawbase and 11 DecisionBase licenses. The benefit of owning Drawbase is that we don't have to purchase any major additional applications. We use Drawbase for all design and facility related projects. Only one software to learn and use. Drawbase is one complete CAFM package. Everything is right there - end of story."

Furniture - Track, Order, and Place it on The Layout

fsl.gif (14385 bytes)ADP tracks furniture inventory and simplifies the ordering process via Drawbase. Before a CAFM system was implemented, the furniture was manually counted which was a drawn out procedure. Facility automation eliminates possible counting errors and over ordering saving both time and money. Kaminsky states, "Ten years ago we actually counted each chair, panel, and desk - now it is an automatic push of a button."

Drawbase FSL/Link enables them to input Steelcase furniture right into the drawing. Edmondson states, "We recently invested in Drawbase FSL/Link and it is working well for us. Steelcase furniture is selected from a drop down menu, a symbol is generated, and the senior designer places it on the layout. The neat thing about the program is that it contains all the furniture information we need, including the model number."
